FLOOR VIBRATION ANALYSIS

The Steel Joist Institute has partnered with Dr. Thomas H. Murray, Professor Emeritus at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University to provide a vibration analysis program that combines years of experience in vibration testing with the latest research in the field. Attached is the link to his website where the latest vibration program can be purchased.    View Site

JOIST GIRDER MOMENT CONNECTION DESIGN TOOLS

These design tools have been developed by the Steel Joist Institute to assist the SER, the Connection Designer, and the Steel Fabricator with the complex task of designing appropriate connections between Joist Girders and columns. The tools can be utilized for wide flange and HSS columns.    View Tools

BAY ANALYSIS TOOL

The Bay Analysis Tool has been developed by the Steel Joist Institute to assist the structural engineer of record with selecting optimal bay sizes and framing options.  The tool provides a number of input options allowing for customization based on project criteria and designer preference as well as owner and code requirements. Roof Bay Tool  Floor Bay Tool

BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING (BIM)

Building Information Modeling (BIM) continues to progress through all phases of construction, including the steel joist industry. BIM provides many benefits to the building project and its owners and the demand for BOM information continues to increase. This is the first of what will likely be multiple steps in the steel joist industry’s adaptation to BIM.  See BIM Technology for more information.
